CRECCIDE makes every effort to promote and make accessible to everybody an understanding of the principles on which the operation of democracy is based, especially as regards Europe, the Federal State, the federal bodies and local authorities.

Our objectives also include encouraging responsible behaviour by citizens imbued with a feeling of solidarity and motivated by a sense of civic duty and the wish to contribute actively to building a democratic society.

For this purpose, the CRECCIDE regularly joins together with organizations, associations and partners interested in these projects and it gives priority to collaboration with teachers irrespective of their particular fields.

Because of this pluralism, the CRECCIDE declares itself to be an independent association which is determined to experiment and convey innovative and progressive ideas and encourage the participation of children by developing the exercise of their citizenship at the present time and in the future.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:

The non-profit-making association CRECCIDE was set up in 1998 following an actual change in the status of the association called Cellule ‘CITOYENNETE RESPONSABLE ET DEMOCRATIE’ [ Responsible Citizenship and Democracy Unit] which had been established by the public authorities, the Walloon Region and French Community in 1994.

The CRECCIDE has been developing its activities mainly in the Walloon Region, in particular in the context of primary education by giving priority to collaboration with teachers.

This non-profit-making association provides them with youth workers who are experienced teachers themselves and who work in the spirit of voluntary service and on the basis of full collaboration with the classroom teachers.

The aim of this non-profit-making association is to: work in a spirit of open-mindedness and tolerance; conduct evaluations on the basis of exchanges between classes, schools and associations; participate in the preparation of new projects; gather various kinds of information e.g. newspaper articles, reports on projects which have been implemented and photographs.

The CRECCIDE is prepared to participate in any project irrespective of its philosophic leanings, provided that the aim pursued stays within the framework of citizenship and democracy.
