Training for Children’s and Youths’ Town Council coordinators

This training comprises 11 modules and its purpose is to prepare the participants to manage effectively a participative structure with young people by giving them the means of becoming self-sufficient in the management of their projects and by giving them real experience of the democratic process. The following modules are available

 

  • Our institutions (description of the organisation of the Belgian state, of the specificities of the different levels of power and their respective areas of competence)
  • Psychology of the child and/or the adolescent (description and evolution of the psychology of the child from 9 to 11 years of age and of the adolescent from 13 to 18 years of age)
  • « I know my town » (attending a teaching module in a classroom)
  • Role of the professional guide (coordinating and leading the Council and training stakes)
  • Project development (project methodology and teaching skills)
  • Communication (what are the stakes of effective communication, to whom and how to communicate ?)
  • Group management (how to stimulate cooperation, team spirit, how to manage disputes,..?)
  • The ethics of youth work (how to guide without leading? How to stimulate without initiating ? )
  • Informal education (how to teach without boring, by using active, play-like, original methods? )
  • Actions and achievements ( examples of actions undertaken and concrete achievements)
  • Questions-answers (your questions, our attempted answers)
