The CRECCIDE, the umbrella organization for the Conseils Communaux d’Enfants et de Jeunes en Wallonie (Children’s and Youth Town Councils in Wallonia), helps the municipal authorities with Children’s and Youth Town Councils (planning, setting in place and follow up).
It also trains the coordinators of the Children’s and Youth Town Councils and 5th and 6th year primary children from all schools situated on the municipal territory.

The objectives of a Children’s or Youth’s Town Council are to:

- Contribute to the training of tomorrow’s citizens.

- Introduce children and young people to how a town council works.

- Integrate young people into public life.

- Get young people to think about local-authority problems.

- Give young people an opportunity to speak up and to make themselves heard

Every year, the CRECCIDE organizes a meeting of the Children’s and Youth’s Town Councils to allow children and young people to get together and exchange their experiences and aspirations.
